Meta’s looking to get more people cross-posting, this time via a new prompt on Threads, which suggests that users share their Threads posts to IG Stories as well.

As you can see in this example, shared by social media expert Matt Navarra, some Threads users are being prodded to cross-post their Thread to IG Stories, as a means to “get more eyes on your posts.”
Which, given Meta’s propensity for cross-posting, makes sense. You can already cross-post from Facebook to IG with every relative update, while Meta also continues to add more functionality to WhatsApp Status to enable full cross-posting to that option as well.
As such, cross-posting from Threads maybe makes sense, though I would suggest that every content type requires specific focus, and that cross-posting non-Stories like updates to Stories probably isn’t the best option most of the time.
But it could help you get more people to see your posts, as Meta says, while cross-posting from Threads to IG will also help to lure more people across to Threads.
Meta’s Twitter clone app is still seeing strong download numbers, and at last check, had exceeded 320 million active users. Which is still a long way off X (which recently reported 600 million MAU, though that’s somewhat questionable), but in order to maintain that momentum, Meta really needs more people to come over and join the conversation in the app.
So really, this is more of a cross-promotional trigger for Threads, as opposed to a reach boosting push.
But again, it could help you get more people to see your content, and as such, it may also be an easy way to expand your audience.
