TikTok Now Enables You to Highlight Comments from Selected Profiles During Live Streams

TikTok’s looking to help creators engage with their friends during their live streams, via a new option that will highlight comments from your chosen profiles in-stream.

As you can see in this example, shared by app researcher Jonah Manzano, you can now mark selected profiles during your stream, in order to highlight them if/when they comment or engage.

As explained by TikTok:

“Add friends as marked viewers to quickly spot their likes, comments, and other interactions in your LIVE.”

As TikTok notes in this screen, viewers themselves will not know that they’ve been marked by you, with the idea being that this will provide more options for creators to prioritize specific viewers as they respond during a broadcast.

Which could actually relate to any profile you want, not just your friends. Based on these examples, it doesn’t seem like there’s any restriction on who you can mark, which also means that you could tag business prospects, influential users, sworn enemies, etc.

That could enable marketers to hone in on competitors via live-streams. If, for example, you got a listing together of profiles that follow your competition, you could tag them, and then work to give those users extra focus during your stream. That might help you steal them away as customers, presuming they’re fans of the other business.

There’s a range of ways this could be used, and it may help in ensuring that you don’t miss any important interactions during your live events.

It’s another option to consider either way, and as TikTok continues to push live commerce, it could end up being a valuable element.
