TikTok Offers Free Access to Mental Health Support for Creators

TikTok has announced some new initiatives for World Mental Health Day, including an important push to help creators both get help, and advocate for the same in the app.

First off, TikTok is partnering with Headspace on a new initiative that will provide up to 20,000 creators with six months of free access to the Headspace app.

The program aims to help creators avoid burnout, and the pressures that come with audience expectation, while also empowering them to speak about their personal experiences, and how they got the help and assistance they need.

Almost 80% of influencers suffer from burnout at some stage, while their reach and popularity also provide an opportunity to combat mental health stigma and misconception. As such, this is a good initiative from TikTok, which could help many people with their own struggles.

TikTok’s also developed a new Creator Academy Playbook to help guide creators on how to make content for World Mental Health Day and beyond.

The guide provides a range of tips on how to best communicate mental health elements, and what creators need to know about terminology, resources, assistance, etc.

TikTok’s also running a webinar in the U.S. focused on creator well-being.

“Creators can attend this webinar to learn from mental health experts, connect with support networks, and gain valuable strategies for managing stress and enhancing their overall mental health.

Finally, TikTok has also partnered with the World Health Organization to create content, and combat mental health misinformation, through the Fides network. That’ll see well known health influencers in the app sharing videos that aim to dispel rumors and myths, and empower TikTok users to take control of their mental health situation.

These are important initiatives, which could have a significant impact, in various ways, helping to connect more TikTok users through to mental health support resources to get them on the right track.

The various programs here could have significant value, with the free support for influencers likely to have the broadest impact.
