Tony Award Winners 2026: The Updating List

Follow the latest live updates and photos from the Tony Awards.

The 79th Tony Awards have arrived after a year of shrinkflation, as Helen Shaw, our chief theater critic put it. Just 11 musicals, both new and revivals, opened this season, compared to 21 in the previous year. Still, the slate of offerings also amounted to an “embarrassment of riches,” she wrote.

There was a glittering array of scene-stealing moments in this year’s shows. And productions keep getting starrier as they bet on celebrities to boost ticket sales, both onstage and behind the scenes as co-producers.

The ceremony, which will be hosted by the pop singer-songwriter Pink, kicks off at 8 p.m. at Radio City Music Hall. The show will be broadcast live on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+. Several awards will be announced at a preshow ceremony at 6:35 p.m., hosted by Laura Benanti, who won a Tony Award in the 2008 revival of “Gypsy,” and Tituss Burgess, who last year played Mary Todd Lincoln in “Oh, Mary!” The preshow is free to stream on Pluto TV.

“The Lost Boys” and “Schmigadoon!” — both new musicals — lead the pack with 12 nominations apiece, and a revival of “Ragtime” is close behind with 11. In the play categories, “Death of a Salesman” leads with nine nods, and “Oedipus” has seven. Expect live musical numbers from all of the nominees for best musical and best musical revival, along with a tribute to “A Chorus Line” by Rachel Zegler and a performance by Leslie Odom Jr. in honor of the 30th anniversary of “Rent.”
