The year 2025 seems to have ended on a high note for AEW, as they beat WWE to a major award. Now, Tony Khan has issued a statement on the matter.
We are just a week away from closing 2025, a year that marked another chapter of fierce competition between AEW and WWE for supremacy in the wrestling industry. Although the Triple H-led promotion remains its juggernaut self, with massive media deals and global reach, the Jacksonville-based promotion, which relies on the quality of its in-ring product, appears to have further narrowed the gap between the two this year. Fans saw an indication of this when Sports Illustrated released its year-end wrestling awards for 2025, with AEW taking home 10, including promotion of the year. WWE and CMLL tied for the runners-up spot.
Earlier today, Tony Khan took to X to address this, congratulating all the All Elite award winners and the fans watching for this fantastic feat.
“Congratulations to all of the @SInow 2025 Wrestling Awards winners! (All Elite Wrestling) received 10 awards, with 8 individual (All Elite Wrestling) wrestlers winning honors, and the whole (All Elite Wrestling) team + you (All Elite Wrestling) fans winning: Sports Illustrated Best Wrestling Promotion in the World in 2025: @AEW All Elite Wrestling!”

Tony Khan confirms AEW is locked in with major media company for the next two years
The recent sale of Warner Bros. called into question All Elite Wrestling’s streaming future as the ownership of TNT, TBS, and HBO Max came under scrutiny. However, in a recent interview with TV Insider, Khan reassured fans that the promotion, despite significant business changes, is fully locked in with WBD for the next two years.
“I think we have a lot of certainty and are very excited. 2025 is the most exciting year yet for (All Elite Wrestling), and our partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery was reimagined this year and will continue for years to come. We’re locked in with TNT, TBS, and HBO Max for over two more years. The future is bright for us for years to come,” Tony said.
