The Minnesota Twins placed utility player Willi Castro on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained right oblique.

The move is retroactive to April 21.

Castro, who turned 28 on Thursday, has not played since April 16. The switch-hitter is batting .227 with one homer and five RBIs in 18 games this season.

An All-Star in 2024, Castro is a career .247 hitter with 46 homers and 200 RBIs in 603 games with the Detroit Tigers (2019-22) and Twins. He has made starts at second base, shortstop, third base, all three outfield spots and as a designated hitter.

In corresponding moves, the Twins recalled utilityman Mickey Gasper from Triple-A St. Paul and optioned right-hander David Festa to St. Paul.
