Two-time WWE champions retain their titles on SmackDown

Last week, a Triple Threat Match took place for the WWE Tag Team Championships between the then champions Priest and R-Truth, the War Raiders, and the newly reformed MFT. The match was pretty chaotic, and in the end, the Tongans hit the Brothers’ Keeper powerbomb on Truth and picked up the win and the tag team titles. Tama and Talla Tonga became two-time WWE Tag Champions. This week on SmackDown, MFT had their first title defense.

Tonight on SmackDown, the former champions got their rematch. This was a traditional two-on-two tag team match. Both Truth and Priest looked to have the upper hand from the moment the bell rang. But it did not take long for the Tongans to take control. In the end, they hit the High Low finisher on Truth and got the pinfall victory.

After the match, Damian Priest and Truth were visibly upset with the result. Only time will tell what is next for the former tag team champions.

It is to be noted that during the match, the AAA Tag Team Champions, War Raiders, were watching the match backstage. They might be the next challengers for the WWE Tag Titles, although nothing was made official.

Before the title rematch, both Talla and Tama Tonga warned the rest of the locker room. Their father, Haku, stepped in and motivated his sons to walk out to the ring and prove to the world who the Tongans truly are.

The MFT received a lot of appreciation from the fans and fellow wrestlers following their tag team title win last week. One such message of appreciation that deserves the spotlight is from one of their former faction members. It was none other than the Samoan Werewolf, Jacob Fatu. Fatu took to X to praise his brothers’ victory.

“TOKO,” wrote Fatu.

Who do you think can dethrone the MFT?
