Veteran PGAT caddie defends Phil Mickelson as fan calls LIV star a ‘Saudi sellout’

Veteran PGA Tour caddie Kip Henley defended Phil Mickelson after a fan called him out for joining LIV Golf. The American golfer is one of the earliest joiners of the Saudi league. He is currently enjoying a time away from the field after wrapping up the 2025 LIV Golf season.

He is pretty active on social media and on Wednesday shared a post about “illegal immigration.” He shared the stats showing how different countries have strict rules regarding illegal immigration while saying the “U.S. is way too lenient.

“The US is way too lenient on illegal immigration. Singapore 6 months in prison, caning, THEN deportation, Malaysia 1-5 years in prison, caning, then deportation, Qatar 3 years in prison, forced labor, then deportation, Russia 2 years in prison, forced labor, then deportation, N Korea no deportation, just execution, Hungary 8 years in prison, then deportation, S Africa 1 year in prison, then deportation, Japan 3 years in prison, then deportation,” Mickelson wrote.

A fan named Adam Kinzinger reshared Mickelson’s post on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He wrote:

“Why are the richest people the biggest heartless dicks to the people in desperate circumstances? You will have to face your creator someday who clearly said “what you do to the least of these you do to me” I used to like @PhilMickelson. Saudi sellout”

Phil Mickelson also reacted to the Adam Kinzinger comment about him. The six-time major winner jumped into the comments section of the fan’s post. He wrote:

“Adam you are morally superior. Given that, maybe the US can just enforce our current laws and not entice and pay millions of illegal immigrints to break our laws at the financial expense of our citizens and tax payers”

Phil Mickelson last played at the LIV Golf Michigan event in August. The next season will start in February 2026; until then, he has had a good time enjoying time away from the greens.

Meanwhile, this season on LIV Golf, Mickelson had started the season with a T-23 finish at the Adelaide event, followed by a solo third-place finish at the Hong Kong event. Some of his other notable finishes this season include solo sixth in Miami, T-4 in Virginia, and T-23 in Andalucía. However, he struggled in the majors and missed the cut in three tournaments. He settled at T-57 at the Open Championship.
