Chelsea fans have reacted with delight following the decision of head coach Liam Rosenior to leave Alejandro Garnacho out of the XI for their game against Arsenal. The Blues are looking to overcome a 3-2 first leg deficit against the Gunners and reach the final of the EFL Cup this season.

Former Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior masterminded a historic comeback at the weekend as his side won 3-2 at home to West Ham. The Englishman has switched things around for the tie at the Emirates against Arsenal, making four changes to the XI that started the game on Saturday.

Alejandro Garnacho was among the starters in that game but was hauled off alongside two others at half-time after an unimpressive showing in the first 45. The absence of the Argentina international from the XI was pleasing to the fans, many of whom have grown frustrated with his inconsistent displays. A number of the club’s fans took to X to share their thoughts on the forward’s absence.

One fan was excited by the absence of Pedro Neto and Garnacho, claiming that their side is ‘back’.

Another fan made a point of Rosenior no longer seeing Garnacho as a reliable player and expressed their wish for him to be sold in the summer.

A fan was hopeful that they would not get to watch the Argentinian.

Another fan stated that they are at peace knowing the former Manchester United man is not starting.

Alejandro Garnacho has impressed for Chelsea in the EFL Cup this season, and came off the bench to score twice in the first leg against Arsenal. The 21-year-old also netted a brace in the previous round of the competition at Cardiff City, and will hope to play a key role in the second half once again.

Neto, James absent for Chelsea as Estevao returns

Chelsea are without two of their senior stars, Reece James and Pedro Neto after neither player travelled with the squad for their meeting with Arsenal. Both players featured in the win over West Ham on Saturday but have been left at home for the trip to the Emirates.

The Blues have been boosted by the return of gifted winger Estevao to their squad for the game against the Gunners. The 18-year-old Brazil international missed the game against West Ham as he had to travel to his come country for personal reasons, but is on the bench tonight.

Liam Rosenior has named academy duo of Shumaira Mheuka and Charlie Holland among the Chelsea substitutes for the game, with Mheuka having played in the first leg. Jamie Gittens misses out with a hamstring injury he picked up in the first half against West Ham.
