New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel announced on Wednesday that he will miss Day 3 (Saturday) of this year’s NFL draft as he begins to seek counselling. The news of Vrabel set to be absent from the final day of the upcoming draft comes only weeks after his photos with NFL reporter Dianna Russini at a resort in Arizona went viral on social media.
Thanks for the submission!
When fans caught wind of Vrabel’s statement, they slammed the Patriots coach.

“Guilty as charged,” a third commented.
Here are a few more reactions.
“What an insane gimmick. Either resign or show up to work. You can’t PR your way outta this,” one wrote.
“He following the Tiger Woods playbook that all public figures do when they get caught cheating,” another added.
“This dudes family is in shambles and his kids probably hate him and yall really think he’ll be in the right mindset to lead an NFL team this year? Lmao. His family problems are 100% going to effect things this year,” a user tweeted.
“This is such dumb performative BS. Pretty sure you can go to counseling the day after the draft,” a fan commented.
Vrabel and Russini, both of whom are married to other people, were pictured holding hands and hugging at a luxury resort. Both denied any wrongdoing, but Russini resigned from “The Athletic” last week after an internal investigation into the matter.
Mike Vrabel led the Patriots to the Super Bowl in his first year as HC

The Patriots hired Mike Vrabel in January 2025. He helped the franchise win the AFC East title in his first year.
New England beat the LA Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos to reach the Super Bowl. However, Vrabel’s Patriots lost 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks in the big game.
Vrabel will be aiming to bolster his Patriots roster at the draft to potentially make another run for the Super Bowl next season.
