What occurred to Owen Tippett? Flyers launch damage replace on $49.6M star

The Philadelphia Flyers were eliminated from Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs after losing the series 4-0 against the Carolina Hurricanes. In this defeat, the Flyers were without the service of Owen Tippett, who suffered an injury that ruled him out of the second round.

While many fans wondered exactly what happened to Tippett, the player recently released a statement revealing the details of the injury. According to Tippett’s statement on the official X handle of the Flyers, he was unable to return for the second round due to internal bleeding.

Tippett revealed that the internal bleeding occurred during the first-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Further, the 27-year-old revealed that even though he was allowed to travel and skate with the team at certain practices, his recovery didn’t take place at a pace that would allow him to play in the second round.

Following his team’s exit from the Stanley Cup playoffs, Owen Tippett said he is extremely proud of what the Philadelphia Flyers have achieved this season and remains moved by the support of the fans. He expressed his gratitude to all those who supported him and concluded by saying he looks forward to a full recovery.

Owen Tippett was called a good leader by his teammate during the former’s absence

After the Philadelphia Flyers lost Game 1 of the second round of the playoffs against the Carolina Hurricanes, there were doubts about the participation of Owen Tippett in Game 2. Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet also mentioned that Tippett playing in the second match would be a game-time decision.

While Tocchet commented on Tippet’s availability, Tippett’s teammate, Trevor Zegras, called the injured player a good leader. Zegras also revealed what he has to do in the absence of Tippett. The 25-year-old center said:

“When I play with him, I feel like, just by how he uses his feet, I usually get my feet going a little bit more. So maybe without him, [I just need to] get it going a little bit earlier. He’s just a good leader and example for everyone else the way he plays: how physical he is, how hard he is on the forecheck, his shoot-first mentality,” Trevor Zegras said.

While Owen Tippett didn’t play in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, he played in all six games in the first round against Pittsburgh. Tippett scored one goal, recorded six assists, and 2 points.
