Why are millennials transferring again to the suburbs?

Millennials are “also contending with school and childcare costs—and [are] more likely to form a household in which both parents work,” Ted De Barbieri, a professor at Albany Legislation Faculty who makes a speciality of property and housing regulation, tells Fortune. “Moving close to family in the suburbs and engaging in some good-old-fashioned alloparenting by letting grandparents and extended family pitch in on the toil of child-rearing is also, undoubtedly, a draw.”

However talking of facilities reminiscent of eating places, bars, parks, and different points of interest, millennials are bringing these with them to the suburbs. Whereas researchers initially thought that millennials have been forgoing lifestyle-rich cities after they decamped to the suburbs, they discovered that throughout the previous decade, the suburbs have grow to be extra city-like. 

“It seems like millennials bring the city with them,” Frost says. “We were kind of surprised to see the millennials were moving to far-flung and peripheral suburban areas, but it could be that they’re changing those places as they go there.”
