“ngl, he looks like a kid who snuck into a football camp and surprisingly made the team 😂,” someone said.
“Horrible QB. Can’t believe how many minutes we all had to waste our lives watching him attempt to play football,” one person added.
“Didn’t even know he was still in the league,” one fan commented.
“Don’t think I’ve ever seen a QB with less aura, lmao. (Aside from Jalen hurts, Dak Prescott and Jaxon dart),” one said.
“I can’t believe this guy is still collecting an NFL paycheck,” one person commented.
“Saints fans will be calling for him to start by week 9,” another added.
As Tyler Shough appears set to open the season as Kellen Moore’s starting quarterback, the Saints’ biggest quarterback storyline in training camp will likely be the race for the QB2 job between Spencer Rattler and Zach Wilson.
Among the two, Wilson brings by far the most NFL experience, with 33 starts and over 6,000 passing yards already under his belt.
Zach Wilson’s NFL timeline
Zach Wilson entered the NFL as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft after the New York Jets identified the former BYU star as their long-term answer at quarterback.
However, that hope never materialized. Over three seasons in New York, Wilson had a 12-21 record as a starter while throwing 23 touchdown passes against 25 interceptions and completing just 57% of his attempts.
Although he occasionally showed the arm talent that made him such a highly regarded prospect, Wilson struggled to find consistency and was benched multiple times during the 2022 season.
New York brought Wilson’s tenure to an end in the 2024 offseason by trading him to the Denver Broncos. His path to playing time, however, became even more difficult after Denver selected Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, with the rookie eventually taking over as the team’s starter.
After one year in Denver, during which he was a healthy scratch for all 17 regular-season games, Wilson changed teams again by signing with the Miami Dolphins.
Wilson served as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa in Miami, making four appearances and completing six passes for 32 yards.
Wilson landed with the New Orleans Saints in March after agreeing to a one-year, $1.4 million contract in free agency. He will now aim to make a strong impression during training camp as he competes to become Tyler Shough’s primary backup this season.
