WWE acknowledges Mercedes Mone earlier than WrestleMania 42

WWE has acknowledged Mercedes Mone before WrestleMania 42. Mone, who wrestled in WWE as Sasha Banks, had a decorated career in the Stamford-based promotion before her abrupt departure in 2022.

She walked out ahead of an episode of RAW along with tag team partner Naomi over reported creative differences. Since then, she has wrestled in NJPW and is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling.

During this time, WWE has rarely mentioned Mone or hardly acknowledged her. However, that changed recently. With WrestleMania 42 only a few weeks away, the company has been doing a “42 Greatest WrestleMania Moments” marathon on its YouTube channel.

Mercedes Mone found herself on the list, as her WrestleMania 37 main event match for the SmackDown Championship against Bianca Belair was included in the 19th spot.

The match was historic, as it was the first time two Black superstars headlined WrestleMania. The contest also lived up to its billing as both stars wrestled an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

Bianca Belair eventually came out on top after hitting a Kiss of Death and winning her first Women’s Championship title in WWE. The match also remains Mone’s last singles WrestleMania match to date.

Becky Lynch said the door is open for Mercedes Mone to return to WWE

Ever since Mercedes Mone’s unceremonious exit from WWE, there has been speculation whether she would ever return to the company.

Many stars have talked about Mone possibly coming back, and recently Becky Lynch also mentioned her.

Speaking on Cheap Heat, The Man addressed Charlotte Flair’s recent comments that her Mount Rushmore of women’s wrestlers would be the Four Horsewomen. Lynch said that she agrees with it, and they all have done great work.

She also said not all of them are in WWE and added that the “door is always open for Sasha.”
