Let’s get started:
Thanks for the submission!
#4. AJ Styles addresses fallout over past comments
AJ Styles recently made a statement about WWE buying a company in Japan and making a stronghold there. However, the Phenomenal One’s comments did not sit well with many, as fans accused Styles of trying to establish a monopoly. However, AJ recently clarified that he just meant a Japanese company and was not talking about NJPW. The former world champion also heaped praise on the Ace of NJPW – Hiroshi Tanahashi.
“Did I ever say New Japan Pro Wrestling? I can’t remember. Just a Japanese company. That’s more what I was alluding to. People are like, ‘Oh, Tanahashi.’ There ain’t but one Tanahashi and the fact that Japan came out and supported him the way that it did says a lot about that country because he’s definitely one of my favorite guys in the wrestling business. Just a heart of gold,” he said.
He continued:
“So just so you know, I’m not disrespecting my friend, by the way, Tanahashi. You don’t know him like I do. I promise you. I would never disrespect that guy. But, you know. People are gonna say what they say because they think they know everything about wrestling.” [H:T/WrestlePurists]
#3. Finn Balor provides a personal update
The FIFA World Cup Final took place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19, with many notable names attending one of the biggest football matches of all time. Among those was Finn Balor, who revealed that his wife surprised him with the tickets for the match as an early birthday present.
Aside from Finn Balor, the Bella Twins were also present at last night’s game between Argentina and Spain.
#2. Paige blames the referee for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship loss
Paige and Brie Bella lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid of the Fatal Influence on Saturday Night’s Main Event, with Jacy Jayne providing an assist in her stablemates’ win. While Jacy’s interference was right in front of referee Jessika Carr, the latter continued to count to three, leaving many shocked. Paige later pinned the loss on Carr, noting that Becky Lynch was right about her.
For those unaware, Becky Lynch and Jessika Carr have been at odds for many months, with The Man blaming the female referee for a lot of her losses. However, what happened with Paige was a botch, while Becky’s feud with Carr was in character.
#1. Female star has left WWE
Many notable names have left WWE in the last few months, with Sheamus and The New Day being the biggest of them. Another name has now been added to the list, as Chik Tormenta, a Lucha Libre veteran, recently announced her exit from AAA.
Tormenta was a part of WWE-owned AAA since 2018. She did not feature prominently in the company in the last several months. She confirmed her departure at a recent Independent show, noting that she’s now a free agent.
