WWE Veteran Books CM Punk In Huge Tag Team Dream Match

Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently spoke about CM Punk possibly competing in a high-profile tag team match. The star has been away from the company since his last match at WrestleMania.

Punk was the defending World Heavyweight Champion heading into WrestleMania 42. He squared off against Roman Reigns, who won the Royal Rumble to punch his ticket to the Showcase of Immortals. The two stars put on a five-star classic at the grand event, with Reigns finally emerging victorious. Since then, Punk has taken time off from the company and has not been seen on the weekly TV shows.

On a recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru, the veteran manager noted that WWE was building up The Vision members Logan Paul and Austin Theory. He suggested that booking the tag team champions with some in-ring veterans like CM Punk and LA Knight would lead to a huge tag team match. Cornette felt that Punk and Kniight could lead the young tag team put on a wrestling classic.

“And I think that probably Logan Paul and Austin Theory against two babyfaces that were in the business before the WWE, to go what we were talking with earlier, or talking about earlier, would be a great match. Because they, Logan Paul can do the sh*t. Theory, I’m pretty sure knows it already, against like L.A. Knight and Punk. They could have just a tag match that would tear the f*cking house down. Because they wouldn’t just be doing WWE style sh*t, they’d be doing wrestling.”

Real reason CM Punk has been away from WWE

Following his WrestleMania match against Roman Reigns, CM Punk has disappeared and not been seen on Monday Night Raw. This was despite the star saying that he would not take a vacation or time off after WrestleMania.

Popular wrestling platform Fightful Select recently reported on the Punk situation in their Q&A. The report suggested that Punk’s absence was due to some scheduling changes within WWE. It further added that there have been quite a few creative changes since WrestleMania and the star was also probably not aware of the changes to his schedule.
