“Y’all just hate the messenger, but the message is on point” — Internet reacts as Meek Mill calls out media protection of UHC CEO

Meek Mill posted a series of tweets on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, and voiced his opinion about the recent media coverage around the killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO, Brian Thompson. He suggested how the issue has received more coverage than the children who were killed in his home city, Philadelphia.

“100 kids get murdered in my hood the press stuck on one CEO ….. I will never get it! When somebody put me to the challenge I’ll collect 1000 guns off Philadelphia street without snitching just helping clean my community! I ain’t come this far for off games! Only pain and growth,” Meek Mill said.

As soon as his tweets went viral on social media, several netizens started sharing their reactions. An Instagram user, @TheNeighborhoodTalk, posted the screenshots of his tweet on their account, to which another user responded and said:

Meek Mill’s tweets explored as the rapper speaks up about being harassed by the police as he bought a gun legally

In the wake of the recent shooting, Meek Mill also spoke up about how he bought a gun legally. He claimed that he continues to face harassment despite the legal purchase while illegal firearms are up for sale.

“Guns are for sale by the boatload in the streets, I choose to buy from the store legally and still getting harrased like I’m buying guns for people … yall don’t even want me protecting me and my family legally! Racism lurking in my home state!” Meek Mill said.

He also stated:

“I been to the range in different cities more than 10 times but in Pa we got cops investigating me questioning why am I buying guns! I had 10 rap friends killed and couldn’t protect themselves! I’m working on my gun license help me not investigate my I’m not retarted ya know!”

In another tweet, Meek Mill also spoke about the cops’ allegation that the rapper “pointed firearms at them” and then went on to state how he “had to live as a felon for years.”

Meek Mill’s words got intense attention as Philadelphia Police Crime Map and Stats have recorded that close to 244 homicides have taken place this year as of this writing. However, in another tweet, he talked about the violent killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO and wrote, “RIP to that CEO too his life matters too.”

On the other hand, Meek Mill has slammed the media twice this week, taking to X to express his concerns about how the media has been framing the rappers Jay-Z and Diddy. He claimed that “the goal is to start a false narrative” and then bashed the American media by calling it “programming.” So far, the members of the media have not responded to either of the rapper’s tweets.
