YouTube’s expanding its Hype creator amplification option, while it’s also updating its policies on gambling-related content, in order to limit the types of gambling promotions that can be shown to younger users.
First off, on Hype, YouTube’s new method for showcasing viewer-voted content from rising stars in the app.
Originally announced back in September, Hype enables viewers to allocate “hype points” to videos from emerging channels, which can then help those clips get more reach based on that interest.

Each user is allocated a certain number of “Hype Points” to assign to clips per week, which, in theory, should provide a new way to boost emerging creators.
YouTube’s gradually rolling out Hype to more regions, while it also launched an initial test of paid Hype points to users in Turkey last week.
And now, it’s also enabling creators in Brazil to manage Hype, and paid Hype, on Studio Mobile on Android.

Up till now, this functionality has only been available on Studio web. Expanding this to mobile will provide more flexibility in managing Hype for your channel.
YouTube says that it will continue to expand Hype to more regions over the coming months.
On another front, YouTube’s also updating its policies for gambling-related content, and the promotion of gambling to teens.
As per YouTube:
“As of March 19th 2025, we’re strengthening our existing policies related to online gambling. Currently, we don’t allow any method of directing viewers to gambling sites or applications that aren’t certified by Google. [From the 19th] this policy will also include URLs, links embedded in images or text, and visual displays, including logos or verbal references, while content promising guaranteed returns may also be removed, regardless of whether the online gambling site or application has been approved by Google.”
So Google’s looking to further restrict the promotion of gambling-related content to protect younger users, by implementing further limits on these restrictions.
YouTube additionally notes that content which doesn’t violate its community guidelines, but still features depictions or promotions of online casino sites or apps, may also be age restricted.
“This means that online gambling content, excluding online sports betting and depictions of in-person gambling, won’t be viewable to signed out users or users under 18.”
Gambling promotions have become a staple of sports coverage in particular, and it can be overwhelming at times to see so much related content. YouTube’s update could be an important step in limiting such exposure, and potentially protecting younger users from harm.
Finally, YouTube’s also added some updated tips for shopping creators in YouTube Help.

The updated overview includes a range of notes on how to maximize your shopping listings in the app, with visual overviews of key product display elements.
Some handy updates, which could play a part in your YouTube content planning.
