9 folks hospitalized after rush of 200 inmates at California jail

Nine people were hospitalized after round 200 inmates rushed correction officers at a Southern California jail.

In response to the California Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, eight corrections officers and an incarcerated man have been injured throughout the violent rush at Ironwood State Jail in Blythe, California.

Authorities mentioned that officers have been escorting an inmate throughout the jail for a contraband investigation “approximately 200 incarcerated people, on the yard, rushed toward the officers, attacking them with fists and rocks.”

After taking pictures a rifle warning spherical, officers used “chemical agents and non-lethal influence rounds” to get the prisoner beneath management.

Eight workers members and one inmate have been handled at a local hospital and later returned to the jail, officers mentioned.

Authorities didn’t instantly share the extent of their accidents.

Ironwood, a minimum-medium safety facility within the desert east of Los Angeles, opened in 1994 and homes about 2,500 male inmates.
