The Wichita Wind Surge, Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins in the Texas League, will play select games in 2026 as the Wichita Honkers. The alternate identity recognizes the city’s “unofficial traffic controllers,” Canada geese.

The identity, created by sports designer Emily Morgan, features a defiant Canada goose with its beak replaced by an old-timey horn. The goose and a Wichita Honkers wordmark are set against a traffic sign-turned baseball diamond.
“From slow-rolling across the asphalt to winning every shouting match they start, these geese are the real kings of the road in Wichita,” the team said in a statement. “We’re bringing that same ‘don’t-mess-with-the-nest’ energy to the diamond.”

This new identity isn’t the first goose-based Honkers identity on the ball field. The Rochester Honkers have played in the collegiate summer level Northwoods League since 1994.
The Wichita Honkers will make their on-field debut May 2, 2026, against the Arkansas Travelers.
