Chelsea legend John Terry has slammed the Blues players after their 8-2 aggregate defeat to PSG in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The former captain believes that they should have managed the tie better and slammed them for sloppy defending.
Speaking in his TikTok video, Terry said that the main reason for the 8-2 defeat was the late goals conceded in the first leg. He believes that the two goals scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the Paris game should not have happened.
Thanks for the submission!
He added that the tie was done in the firt six minutes after the mistake from Mamadou Sarr gifted Kvaratskhelia another goal and said:
“Unfortunately that is the end. You know what does it for me? Being 3-2 down away to PSG and we actually played really well the whole game, or for 70 minutes of it. I’m going 3-2 we’ll take that all day long going back to the Bridge, I fancy us against anyone to be able to turn that around and then we go and concede late goals to make it really difficult.”
“And then last night we go and concede after six minutes so everything about last night, I can’t even talk about it. I can’t even actually go into the detail of it. I’m so frustrated. But against any team you cannot lose 8-2 over two legs. I’m sorry you can’t. I don’t care who you are, what team you are [facing] – you cannot lose 8-2 so really frustrating.” (via Metro)
Chelsea lost the first leg 5-2 in Paris, before losing the home game 3-0 this week.
Liam Rosenior admits Chelsea lost because of key mistakes
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior admitted that the mistakes in the tie cost them the Round of 16 clash against PSG. He said that they were all but out after the first goal in the second leg, but credited the Ligue1 side as they were clinical in front of the goal and said:
“Six minutes in and another mistake that we make, it takes the wind out of our sails. I think the second goal he’s hit from 25 yards in the top corner. When you go two goals down so early and five goals down on aggregate, it’s a really, really difficult evening. We wanted to obviously put up more of a fight than what we did. Credit to PSG.” (via Football London)
