Nantes welcome Brest to the Stade de la Beaujoire for a Ligue 1 match this Sunday.
With nine points now separating them from outright safety, time is running out for Nantes to secure their Ligue 1 status for next season. However, the relegation play-off is much more within reach, particularly if they win here.
Thanks for the submission!
Brest, meanwhile, are in 11th place and have little to play for at this later stage of the season – making this game much more important for the home side.
Nantes vs Brest Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Nantes have a solid home record against Brest, having won four of their last six at the Stade de la Beaujoire against this weekend’s opposition. However, they have lost the last two meetings there, and have not beaten Brest since 2022.
- Nantes picked up their second goalless draw of the month last weekend, when they were held by fellow strugglers Auxerre. The result did little for Nantes’ survival hopes, particularly as Auxerre are the team that they are currently chasing – with five points separating them going into this weekend.
- Brest, interestingly, are coming into this match on a worse run of form than Nantes, as they have lost their last three games in a row – even falling to Auxerre two weeks ago. The run is their worst since September, suggesting that with safety basically secure and Europe out of reach, they may have switched off somewhat with six games to go.
- Goalscoring has been an issue for Nantes all season, as only Auxerre have scored fewer than their total of 24. Worryingly, they have only managed to score two goals in their last five games, and both of those came in a 2-3 loss to Strasbourg.
- Brest’s away form has been downright appalling this season. They have only come out on top in three matches on the road, and their only away win since the turn of the year came against bottom side Metz.
Nantes vs Brest Prediction
Nantes are coming into this match without a win in five and with their goals appearing to have dried up altogether. However, they may still have some reasons to feel hopeful.
Firstly, Brest are one of the teams in Ligue 1 to be in worse form over the last three games than their hosts this weekend. Secondly, they’re one of Ligue 1’s worst away sides, having only won three matches on the road thus far.
Given Nantes have far more on the line and will be desperate to cling onto any hope of beating the drop, then, the prediction here is a very narrow home win.
Prediction: Nantes 1-0 Brest
