SEVENTEEN members Mingyu, Seungkwan and Dino will begin their military service later this year, with PLEDIS Entertainment confirming their respective enlistment plans on August 10. According to the company’s announcement Mingyu will begin his military service on September 10 through alternative service.
PLEDIS says he will continue participating in SEVENTEEN’s scheduled activities until his service begins. The agency has also clarified that there will be no official event when he starts his alternative service or when he later reports to a training center.
Seungkwan and Dino will enlist together on October 26. Both members will serve in the Army military band. They are also expected to participate in all previously scheduled official activities before their enlistment.
The announcement followed a News1 report that Seungkwan had applied for and been accepted into the military band. PLEDIS asked fans not to visit the enlistment locations. It explained that many other enlistees and their families would also be present and requested that fans respect the privacy and safety of everyone involved.
The latest announcement led to fans flooding social media with emotional posts, with many expressing sadness over having to see more members begin their military service. One fan wrote,
“Lord give me strength.”
Fans struggled with the reality of SEVENTEEN’s enlistment era, saying the group will feel noticeably emptier as more members leave for service. Some also others described September as an especially difficult month for the group’s fandom, CARATs.
Others tried to stay positive, noting that this could finally be the last wave of enlistment announcements for SEVENTEEN members.
Some fans reflected on the memories SEVENTEEN created before enlistment, saying the confirmed dates made their absence feel more real. They expressed deep gratitude for the group and looked forward to the day all 13 members could reunite.
SEVENTEEN’s military enlistment continues as more members prepare to begin service
Mingyu, Seungkwan and Dino would join several SEVENTEEN members who already began their military service. The group’s enlistment period began with Jeonghan who became the first member to begin his military service on September 26, followed by Wonwoo on April 3. Woozi and Hoshi later started their respective services on September 15 and 16.
Jeonghan has already completed his mandatory duty, returning on June 25, 2026. Wonwoo is expected to be discharged on January 2, 2027, while Woozi and Hoshi are scheduled to complete their service on March 14 and 15, respectively.
The group’s enlistment schedule will continue in the coming weeks. Vernon is set to begin his service on August 20 and is expected to complete it on May 19, 2028. DK will enlist on September 8 and serve on active duty, with his discharge expected on March 7, 2028.
Seungkwan and Dino are expected discharge date is April 25, 2028. Mingyu being the last member to get discharged from his service is expected to return on June 9, 2028. After Mingyu, Seungkwan and Dino begin their service, they will temporarily stop participating in SEVENTEEN’s group activities.
However, PLEDIS has said the members have prepared content in advance so they can continue communicating with CARAT during their absence. Fans are also encouraged to leave messages of support for the members through Weverse.
Notably, the group’s leader S.Coups was classified as Grade 5 under South Korea’s military physical grading system following a serious knee injury and subsequent surgeries. His classification exempted him from active-duty service.
