A former WWE star recently reacted to AEW paying tribute to Andy Williams on tonight’s Collision. Last week, All Elite Wrestling’s beloved Butcher passed away. He was wrestling a match at Enjoy Wrestling and teamed up with Blade. During the match, he collapsed and was immediately taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away a few moments later. For the past few days, wrestlers have been sharing great stories about the 48-year-old star.
The Butcher moved many lives. Along with being a pro wrestler, he was also part of a band called ‘Every Time I Die’. All Elite Wrestling has been sharing great moments from his AEW career throughout the week. The promotion announced that they would be paying special tribute to him on Collision tonight. They even announced a special battle royale in his memory, where the winner will win $100,000 and get to donate the prize money to their favourite charity.
Also, during the Collision episode, Brody King, Daniel Garcia, Roderick Strong, Jeff Jarrett, and many other names talked about how great Andy Williams was. WWE veteran Matt Hardy was extremely moved by AEW’s gesture and applauded the company for their efforts
“Kudos for honoring Andy the Butcher in such a classy way, @AEW. ❤️” he wrote.
Excalibur couldn’t hold back tears for the late, great Andy Williams
On the recent edition of Dynamite, Excalibur, with a heavy heart, talked about the demise of Andy Williams. While speaking about him, the AEW commentary became extremely emotional.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover perfectly suited Andy Williams. On the surface, he seemed like a hulking violent brute but one interaction, one conversation with him would quickly reveal that he was anything but, Andy was the most thoughtful, creative, warm, supportive person you could ever wish for. He saw the potential in everyone around and would encourage you to achieve more. He was somebody who deservedly could have a massive ego, but instead used his energy to boost those around him and make the world a better place. We are worse off without Andy, but we are significantly better off for having had him at all,” said Excalibur.
It will be interesting to see who wins the battle royal tonight.
