CM Punk posted a heartbreaking update to all of his fans and it has to do with the passing away of his good friend. That friend is none other than Chad Gilbert.
Gilbert passed away on September 20 at the age of 45 after a long battle with cancer. On top of that, he also had surgeries done on his brain and it took a toll on him. Punk’s friendship with Gilbert goes back more than a decade. The two friends were seen attending many shows together and all in all were inseparable.

After Gilbert’s passing, CM Punk took to Instagram to send a tribute to his dear friend. Posting a picture of Gilbert alongside his dog Larry, Punk wrote:
“This isn’t goodbye. I’ll see you tomorrow. xxx”
CM Punk gave a shoutout to Chad Gilbert numerous times in WWE. He did so once after defeating Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood in 2024. He also shouted out Gilbert’s name after defeating Seth Rollins on RAW’s Netflix Premiere.
Sami Zayn praises CM Punk
Sami Zayn and CM Punk have been in the wars for many months and the two recently took on each other for the WWE title. Zayn ended up winning the title much to the surprise of the fans.
Zayn recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and broke character by praising the Second City Saint. He said:
“There were times that Punk, to the levels he reached, I was like, ‘I don’t get how he reached these levels.’ Clearly, there is something about him, but I didn’t always get the hype. But after I got in the ring with him three or four times this year, you can’t take it away from him. Trust me, I would love to. I would love to just sit here and bash him for the next 10-15 minutes. But in the ring, I can’t take it away from him.”
It is great to see two sworn rivals, who despise each other, have mutual respect for their talents.
