The 2026 NASCAR South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 4 will be the fifth race of the Cup Series Chase. The 267-lap race around the intermediate track comes after Kyle Larson widened his lead at Kansas Speedway. With the championship now at its halfway point, the NASCAR South Point 400 could create another major shift in the title battle.
The entry list for the NASCAR South Point 400 has 36 teams and drivers for 40 available spots, with no open teams entered at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It is the second consecutive Chase race on a 1.5-mile oval and has also brought out new designs and special liveries.

#5 Cole Custer – No. 41 Haas Factory Team (Sysco / Sahara Las Vegas)
The No. 41 Chevrolet uses a white-and-black base that gives the car a clean Las Vegas look. Silver sections break up the darker body, and Sahara Las Vegas branding is placed on the rear quarter panel, giving the scheme a connection to one of Las Vegas’ recognizable casino-hotel brands. For the South Point 400, the scheme draws local connection and stands out in the Desert.
Although he did not qualify for the Chase, Custer has found some of his better results in the latter half of the 2026 season. He finished 10th at Daytona and 11th at Gateway in the past month. However, Las Vegas has been a much tougher track for him. Across 10 Cup Series starts there, Custer has no top-10 finishes, while his Next Gen-era average finish at Las Vegas is 27th. The NASCAR South Point 400 therefore presents a difficult statistical challenge for the Haas driver.

The No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet has a deep navy-and-black base with bright blue, pink, red, and yellow stripes running along the sides and lower body. The vibrant combination fits Las Vegas nicely because the bright lines have a slightly neon, nighttime-city feel. It also suits the driver at its helm.
A week after Bristol ended with him throwing punches at Ryan Blaney, Carson Hocevar was involved in another important multi-car wreck at Kansas. He finished 33rd, dropping three spots in the Chase standings. Las Vegas has not been clean for him either, as a flat tire and pit-road penalty contributed to a 22nd-place finish in the spring. If he can steer clear of trouble, the NASCAR South Point 400 is another chance for Hocevar to chase his second Cup Series win.
#3 Ty Gibbs – No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota (SAIA Freight & Logistics)

The red, white, and blue combination is also a patriotic choice.
Kansas was a race where Ty Gibbs’ P17 result did not fully show how his day developed. He is still 94 points behind the leader in the Chase standings. He finished fifth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March, which was his second top-five finish in his last five races. Those numbers give the #54 Joe Gibbs Racing team some reason for optimism before the NASCAR South Point 400.

Kyle Larson’s No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet is a throwback to Kyle Busch’s 2007 No. 5 car, using the same bright yellow, blue, and red colors. HendrickCars.com branding is integrated into the hood without taking away from the throwback appearance. The setting makes it even more fitting because Las Vegas is Kyle Busch’s home track. He grew up here, and the Busches have raced here for four generations.
Kyle Larson arrives at Vegas after sweeping Kansas, which also answered an important question about whether Hendrick Motorsports had enough intermediate-track speed to match the Toyotas in the Chase. Larson now leads the standings by 26 points and enters the NASCAR South Point 400 with the best track record.
