WWE NXT Superstar Mason Rook was pulled out of a massive match last night. Unfortunately, there is some more bad news for the fans of the 29-year-old star.
Rook was scheduled to challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship on the September 29 edition of NXT. However, the Stamford-based promotion announced that Rook was not medically cleared to compete in the match.
Thanks for the submission!
Speaking on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that although there was still no update on what kept Mason Rook out of the championship bout, he could be out of action for a while.
“The only thing that I’ve heard, other than, like, virtually no one knows what’s going on, is that it’s possible that he could be out for a while. I don’t know what that means. I don’t know what, in terms of a while, means, but hopefully whatever it is is cleared up quickly and he is able to get back in the ring,” Alvarez said. [H/T: Ringside News]

Since Mason Rook was pulled out of the show, WWE NXT General Manager Robert Stone announced that Grayson Waller would now defend the NXT Championship that night via an open challenge. The high-flying EK Prosper answered the open challenge and pushed The Aussie Icon to his absolute limit in a gruelling 20-minute contest. However, the champion managed to dig deep and retain the gold.
John Cena recently made a massive claim about Mason Rook’s WWE future
WWE icon John Cena has been all praises for Mason Rook. He massively put over the NXT star again during a recent interview with Metro.
The Cenation Leader stated that he was instantly impressed with his storytelling. He praised the English professional wrestler and claimed that the time in WWE NXT was going to be just a small step in his wrestling journey.
“I think it was every Wednesday night, and I would consistently see Will Kroos do his thing, and the promotion he was working with. I was floored. And here’s the thing: he’s known for the moves. I was floored by his storytelling. He’s a very intelligent performer, and a lot of times you see at a younger age aspirational performers who want to do crazy stuff, but their in-ring intelligence, they just don’t have enough time or attention. I was floored by his storytelling… NXT is just the next step in what could be. The sky’s the limit for him,” Cena said. [H/T: Metro]
Mason Rook apologised to the fans for not being able to compete for the title. He noted that it was out of his control and promised that it was going to be a minor setback.
