Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Marta Kostyuk were among the players who stole the spotlight at the Wuhan Open players’ party on Sunday. The former World No. 1 Belarusian turned heads with her contemporary fashion sense.
The four-time Grand Slam champion wore a charcoal-colored outfit with a relaxed-fit bomber jacket. She paired it with high-waisted, wide-leg trousers. Six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek’s understated allure attracted attention with a vibrant cherry-red midi dress.
Thanks for the submission!
Ukraine star Marta Kostyuk dazzled in a sleeveless white dress with a scoop neckline. Donna Vekic went for a two-color design, showcasing a sharp black and white contrast. During her time in Wuhan, the Croatian tennis star is hoping to see pandas.
“It’s great, I haven’t seen any pandas yet though, so that’s the usual here, so I’m going to try to find some,” Vekic said.
Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, who received a wildcard for the WTA 1000 event, is excited to compete on Wuhan’s “beautiful” courts.
“I love Wuhan, it’s really nice here, it’s a beautiful tournament, beautiful courts. It’s an octagon tournament and I received a wildcard here, so I’m pretty excited,” she said.
The 2026 Wuhan Open is already underway, with Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Marta Kostyuk awaiting the dust to settle in the opening round as they prepare to begin their respective campaigns on Tuesday.
Aryna Sabalenka hits back at critics who question tennis players indulging in social media
On the tennis front, Aryna Sabalenka has faced intense scrutiny for her active presence on TikTok and other social media platforms throughout the season. Fans believe the 28-year-old’s decision to engage in such activities has resulted in a steep decline in her game.
During her pre-tournament press conference at the Wuhan Open, Sabalenka was asked about her opinions on the matter. She believes players will be judged irrespective of their social media activity, and she personally doesn’t care about people’s perspectives.
“I don’t see how it can be distracting. If you love it, if you have fun with it, if you want to share yourself on social media, you have to do it. I’m at that stage we’re like people are going to judge you either way. She’s active or she’s not active. She’s like that and that. It’s like you’re never good enough for people. I feel like why would I even care about them. I don’t give a single heck,” Sabalenka said.
Aryna Sabalenka will begin her campaign against the winner of the clash between the reigning China Open champion Qinwen Zheng and Ann Li.
