Tom Brady delivered a pointed message aimed at Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix amid growing questions surrounding the team’s offensive performance early in the 2026 season. The seven-time Super Bowl winner emphasized the reality of sustained success at the highest level.
This comes as Nix and Denver’s offense have faced increased scrutiny. Through the first five weeks, the Broncos’ attack has ranked near the bottom of the league in several key categories, including total yards and third-down efficiency. Discussing the FOX Sports NFL power ranking ahead of Week 6, Brady believes the offense needs to do more.
Thanks for the submission!
“We might have the biggest question mark of the NFL season so far,” Brady said. “The defense, again, does its job. Opponents and the offense have got to find a way to push the ball down the field. Until then, nothing is really going to come too easy for them.”

With the Broncos’ poor offensive display so far this season, Sean Payton took over play-calling duty in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The team enters the Thursday night game on a 3-2 record, and Bo Nix believes winning is what matters most amid offensive struggles.
“We’re sitting here at 3-2 and we’re having a good start to our season,” Nix said on Wednesday. “There’s things we want to clean up, there’s things we want to fix. We’re leaving some things out there on the field but we’re finding ways to win like we did last year. I feel strongly that we’re going to continue to do that, so the most important thing is winning, obviously.”
Bo Nix addresses the narrative of him holding back the offense
Amid the ongoing struggle, there’s a growing narrative that Bo Nix is limiting the offense. The quarterback is believed to be relying too heavily on short throws and struggling to handle pressure behind the offensive line. Nix addressed that criticism on Wednesday.
“That’s honestly and truly the biggest battle right now because it’s like we want to be aggressive, want to be aggressive, want to be aggressive and then you see stats and see, ‘Well, this team is causing the most turnovers in the league,’” Nix said.
“And then it’s like, ‘Well, OK, I can’t put my team in a position where I’m turning the football over and putting our defense in a bad spot and giving them a short field.’”
It’s worth noting that the Broncos offense experienced a sluggish and heavily scrutinized start to the 2025 NFL season. This was characterized by slow starts, low scoring and early-down struggles under quarterback Bo Nix. However, the team cleaned it up as the season progressed, and they will be looking to do that again.
