A newcomer is set to step inside the ring at AEW Collision for the first time ever. Former WWE star Ilja Dragunov has been one of the biggest names in the pro wrestling world. He was a free agent last month and made his debut at WrestleDream a few days ago. Later, in the same week, he defeated Mike Bailey in a great contest.
On tonight’s Fright Night Dynamite, Tommaso Ciampa talked about how he was supposed to be the National Champion right now. However, Andrade’s dirty tactics stopped him from becoming one. The Psycho Killer also said that he is the great signing of All Elite Wrestling. This statement didn’t sit right with the Conductor of Violence, who came out to confront him. Ilja came out to confront Ciampa. The former asked Tommaso to face him at that very moment. However, the latter backed out.
Later on Fright Night Dynamite, it was announced that Ilja Dragunov will make his Collision debut against Beast Mortos at Fright Night Collision later this week.
Ilja Dragunov says AEW has been supportive
While speaking on TMZ Sports, Ilja Dragunov says that from pyro to music, AEW supported many of his ideas.
“I already started in the very very small time that we are working together to … have the opportunity to work with great minds when it comes down to the first vignettes that we’re passing on with the perspectives from my other hometown Dresden by night when it comes comes down to the parts with the metronome. When it comes down to the music which came specific specifically from me, but all the different layers like conducting the pyro that came out of the entrance stage that like so many things came from AEW’s side, from my side, but somehow we were always on the same page with everything and everything they offered me was just always better at some point,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what is next for the former United States Champion.
