Portland Trail Blazers star Ja Morant will miss at least four weeks due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. The Blazers confirmed that Morant sustained the injury on Thursday’s 124-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Morant is the latest addition to the list of stars to miss time due to injury. His former teammate, Jaren Jackson Jr., will miss at least six to eight weeks due to a torn MCL in his right knee.

After the injury report, NBA fans shared their reaction online.
“All these players taking time off for GTA,” a fan said.
“Reboot this season,” another fan commented.
“Throw this season in rice,” one fan said.
More fans feel terrible about all the injuries around the league.
“I can’t explain it… But this is literally the best and worst NBA season ever,” someone commented.
“Someone make it stop please,” a comment read.
“The question hasn’t been if Ja can still be an amazing player; it’s if he can stay healthy. He’s been hooping in Portland. Hate this so much for him,” one fan commented.
Ja Morant has appeared in four games for the Blazers, averaging 15.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists. Morant has been important to Portland this season; losing him to injury could affect their performance in the next few weeks.
Coach Micah Nori will turn to backups Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson to step up their game in the coming weeks.
Ja Morant Speaks on Facing the Grizzlies
Ja Morant faced the Grizzlies for the first time since they traded him this offseason. Morant spent seven seasons in Memphis before they parted ways. Ahead of their Thursday contest, the two-time All-Star gave his honest thoughts on facing his former team.
“I’m not a big grudge guy or anything like that,” Morant said. “It’s no different for me, just another basketball game on the schedule for us, and we’re looking to stay undefeated.”
“I take responsibility for stuff I’ve caused. But it wasn’t all me, though. I know the stuff I caused, the wrong light I brought on to the organization when I had my troubles. But you can’t take away the good I did either.”
Morant also said he didn’t want to leave Memphis. However, he knew the decision was not up to him. Now that he’s with the Blazers, the star guard claimed he’s in a better situation.
During his time with the Grizzlies, he developed into a star guard. Ja Morant appeared in 327 games, averaging 22.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists. Morant led the team to four playoff appearances.
