JD Vance tried to distance himself from Donald Trump by blaming the Iran war for the Republican midterm election loss, and the president apparently didn’t approve because, while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he completely gutted Vance’s presidential hopes.

Trump was asked when he will end the war and he said, “ Whenever I want it to. But it’s gotta be done right, and we’re never gonna let them have a nuclear weapon. It’s gotta be done right.”

If Trump is going to force Democrats to end the war, and not do anything to end the war on his own, it is devastating to JD Vance’s presidential hopes. Vance needs it to appear that he has some influence with Trump and is taken seriously.
The message that Trump sent was that Vance should not be taken seriously by anyone, and the only word that matters is his.
The reality is that with Democrats in control of Congress, the decision to end the Iran war won’t be Trump’s to make alone. Democrats can put a lot of pressure on Trump and cut off the Pentagon’s funding for the war.
Trump wasn’t done with Vance, because he then drove a stake through Vance’s presidential hopes.
