After just one season with their new logo, the Shanghai Dragons are switching things up again.
The Kontinental Hockey League club introduced a new logo on their website and social media channels on Tuesday, September 1. It replaces a logo that was introduced in August 2025, when the team relocated from Beijing and adopted a new name.
The new logo is a simplified orange dragon with yellow highlights that forms the shape of an S. With the orange dot in the bottom half of the logo, it also forms a yin and yang symbol.
That combination reflects the character of modern China — a place where centuries of culture exist alongside cutting-edge technology, and where historical heritage continues to evolve alongside rapid innovation.
The connection between past and future became one of the central ideas behind the Dragons’ new visual identity. Rather than directly reproducing traditional Chinese imagery, the emblem takes familiar cultural codes and reinterprets them through a contemporary graphic language. …
For a club built around the dragon as its defining symbol, the objective was never simply to use another familiar interpretation of the mythical creature. The goal was to create our own dragon — unique to the Shanghai Dragons, with its own character and a visual identity unlike other marks in professional sports.

Another variant posted to the team’s Instagram account shows the dragon in blue, with “SHANGHAI DRAGONS” written around it.
The Dragons began as Beijing HC Kunlun Red Star in the 2016-17 KHL season as part of China’s preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. They played games at the Shougang Ice Hockey Arena and the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when they moved their operations to Mytishchi, Russia, just outside Moscow.
Despite the new logo, the Dragons will continue to play the majority of their 2026-27 home games at the SKA Arena in Saint Petersburg, Russia, just as they did in 2025-26. The Dragons did play two games in Shanghai in March 2026, though.
The Dragons open their 2026-27 KHL regular season on Sunday, September 6, with a road game against HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. This is the first of four straight road games to start the campaign, with their home opener taking place Tuesday, September 22, against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.
