Basketball Australia unveiled new uniforms for its national teams over the weekend, a single design to be shared by the Boomers (the men’s team), the Opals (women’s), the Rollers and Gliders (men’s and women’s wheelchair teams), and the Gangurrus (3×3), replacing the various green and gold sets those programs had been wearing over the past few years.
The most obvious change is on the chest. Where the previous uniforms spelled out “AUSTRALIA” in block lettering across the front, the new set shortens it to “AUS”, with a matching number font below it. The Australian coat of arms stays put in its spot above the wordmark, as does the FIBA patch on the upper right. As before, the jerseys come in two versions, green with gold lettering and trim, and gold with green. Shorts follow the same colour scheme with a contrasting hem.

Down each side of both the jersey and shorts is a new panel of artwork by First Nations artist Danny O’Shane, which Basketball Australia says represents “connection to land, culture and the importance of family and community.” It takes the place of the plain contrasting side stripes on the previous set and is the only real decoration on an otherwise stripped-down (but clean) uniform design.
The uniforms were made by iAthletic, Basketball Australia’s official apparel partner, who also produced the outgoing set. The new look is part of a wider rebrand of Basketball Australia by design agency Hulsbosch, which the federation says includes new national team logos, typography, and a refined colour palette running from the community level right up to the national teams.
“Pulling on the green and gold and representing Australia is one of the greatest honours in our sport, and we wanted these uniforms to reflect both that history and where Australian basketball is heading,” Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven said in the press release. “Whether it is the Opals, Boomers, Rollers, Gliders or Gangurrus taking the court, they are part of one Australian basketball family. This new uniform provides a shared identity that brings that to life.”
The Opals will be the first to wear the new uniforms, debuting the set at the upcoming 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany, which gets underway this Friday. The Rollers and Gliders follow at the IWBF World Championships in Canada later in September, and the Boomers will wear theirs for the first time during the qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in November.

“It still feels unmistakably Australian, but the AUS identity gives it a fresh look, and we’re incredibly proud that the Opals will be the first team to wear it on the international stage,” said Opals guard Steph Reid.
Reaction on Basketball Australia’s Instagram post was overall positive, with The Female Athlete Project simply posting “GREEN AND GOLD” alongside a row of fire emojis and the Manly Wheel Eagles wheelchair basketball club chiming in with “Looking 🔥🔥🔥.”
