Controversial WWE Title change is formally underneath investigation

Last weekend, a major WWE title changed hands. It was the AAA Mega Championship. The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio put his title on the line against El Grande Americano on Night 2 of Triplemanía 34. Americano managed to pick up the win in controversial fashion. Now, the outcome of the match is under investigation.

Since the referee was knocked out during the match, Rey Mysterio rushed into the ring at the last minute wearing the referee jersey and executed the pinfall to give Americano the win. The result of the match did not sit well with Dominik Mysterio and his manager Dorian Roldan. Roldan had reportedly argued the outcome of the match and blamed the WWE Hall of Famer for costing Dirty Dom the AAA Mega Championship. Now, an official investigation is underway regarding the Triplemania main event. The official result of the investigation will be announced on October 3 at the AAA Domo de la Feria in León, Guanajuato, Mexico.

The AAA Mega Championship match was a No Disqualification match. It was a hard-hitting matchup; both wrestlers went back-and-forth exchanging fists and brawling both inside and outside the ring. At one point in the match, Liv Morgan also rushed in to help her on-screen boyfriend, Dominik Mysterio. The referee was also taken out in the middle of the match. In the end, El Grande Americano hit his running headbutt and went for the pin. But the referee was down, and thus AAA’s General Manager Rey Mysterio rushed in wearing a referee jersey and counted to three. Americano won the match and became the new AAA Mega Champion.

Liv Morgan also lost her WWE Women’s World title in controversial fashion

Just like how Dominik Mysterio lost his AAA Mega Championship, Liv Morgan also lost her WWE Women’s World title thanks to some referee shenanigans. Morgan put her title on the line against Stephanie Vaquer during a Live event in La Primera’s home country of Chile. Becky Lynch was the special guest referee for the match.

During the match, Morgan seemed to have the upper hand. At one point, Morgan hit the Oblivion on Vaquer and went for the pinfall, but Lynch refused to count the pinfall. An upset Liv Morgan was arguing with The Man, and in that time, Vaquer recovered, hit Morgan with the Superkick, and followed it with the Spiral Tap to get the pinfall victory.

On the episode of WWE RAW following this match, Becky Lynch told Stephanie Vaquer that she owes a title match.
