Police in Greece have raided a number of properties in Athens and detained dozens of suspects in a crackdown on soccer violence that led to the dying of a police officer in December.
Police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, 31, died on Dec. 27 after being hit by a flare throughout violence between rival followers at a volleyball recreation in Athens.

Greek police chief Dimitris Mallios mentioned 60 folks have been arrested by Monday afternoon, in an operation that began late Sunday.

He added 58 properties and 15 automobiles have been searched within the crackdown, and seized objects included handguns, knives, medication and wood golf equipment.
“We have an absolute commitment to fight sports violence,” the police chief mentioned.
