Brian Kelly made his debut as a color analyst for CBS Sports Network on Saturday. He was in the booth for the game between Jacksonville State and North Dakota State at the FargoDome in Fargo, North Dakota.

However, NFL fans on social media were not too pleased with some of Kelly’s on-air comments.

“Brian Kelly couldn’t make it through ONE broadcast without making an excuse for a head coach,” another added.
“Did he commentate in a fake southern drawl??” a third commented.

Kelly joined CBS as an analyst in June. He is expected to serve as a color analyst on the network for the rest of the 2026 season.
A look at Brian Kelly’s coaching record at the collegiate level
Brian Kelly got his first head coaching job at Grand Valley State in 1991 after spending four years as an assistant at the program. He compiled a 118-35-2 record at the school through 2003, helping the Lakers win two NCAA Division II titles.
Kelly coached at Central Michigan for three seasons, racking up a 19–16 record. He then coached at Cincinnati for four years, posting a 34–6 record.
Kelly coached at Notre Dame for 12 seasons, posting a 92-39 record. He became the program’s all-time winningest coach.
In November 2021, LSU hired Kelly. He compiled a 34-14 record before he was fired in October 2025. According to reports, LSU agreed to pay $54 million spread over six years as part of Kelly’s buyout.
