“Get this out ASAP” – Erling Haaland responds to artist Kygo’s remix of Norway striker’s previous tune and promise to launch it if he scores vs Brazil

Norway striker Erling Haaland wants music artist Kygo to release a remix of Haaland’s old song ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash with five-time champions Brazil tonight (July 5) at New York New Jersey Stadium, East Rutherford.

Haaland, 25, has had a superb start to his maiden FIFA World Cup campaign, scoring five times in three games. Following four goals in two games in the group stage, the Manchester City hitman scored the winner as the Vikings beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in the Round of 32.

Trailing Golden Boot leaders Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi by two goals, Haaland is looking forward to closing the gap on the leading duo as Stale Solbakken’s side eye a place in the last-eight at the expense of the Selecao.

Long before he had become the prolific goalscorer he’s now, Haaland had released a music video in 2016. Referencing the same, Kygo posted on Instagram:

“In 2016, Haaland made a song Kygo Jo. The other day it popped up on my feed, so I thought it was about time I remixed it. I’ll release it if Haaland scores against Brazil.”

Responding to Kygo on Instagram story, Haaland replied:

“Get this out ASAP, Kygo Music!”

Haaland is Norway’s record goalscorer in the FIFA World Cup, three more than previous record holder Kjetil Rekdal. The City striker went past Rekdal with his first of two goals against Senega in the group stage.

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti said that his team don’t have a specific plan to combat Norway striker Erling Haaland in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash tonight.

The Selecao are coming off a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Japan in the first knockout round as they seek to reach a ninth-straight quarter-final at the quadrennial competition.

“I don’t think that there is such a thing as an ‘anti-Haaland’ plan,” Ancelotti said (as per ESPN). “I don’t need to tell my players how to defend, they have faced each other a few times. Our team is in an optimal condition. However, we need to continue improving.

“Everyone knows how he [Haaland] works. I have nothing to explain to my defenders how to play against him. They have obviously played against him several times, so we are only focused on being well prepared for the match, understanding the basic characteristics of the opponent, and we know that they are very dangerous offensively.”

Remarkably, the Selecao are winless in four meetings with Erling Haaland’s Norway, losing two, including a 2-1 loss in the group stage of the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
