Will Justin Herbert have a big 2026 season after engagement to Madison Beer? Analyzing precedents for Chargers QB

Engagement has proven to be a great motivator for NFL players, especially quarterbacks, in the past. And Justin Herbert has at least three examples to emulate after proposing to Madison Beer, according to Yardbarker’s Clark Dalton.

First is Matthew Stafford, who became engaged to Kelly Hall in March 2014. That season, he made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career and helped the Detroit Lions reach the playoffs for the second time in four years.

Speaking of the Lions, Jared Goff became engaged to Christen Harper in June 2022, then made his first Pro Bowl since being traded to Detroit. He also helped the franchise clinch its first winning record since 2017, just narrowly missing the playoffs via tiebreak.

The most successful example, however, is Josh Allen. After becoming engaged to Hailee Steinfeld in the middle of the 2024 season, he led the Buffalo Bills to their fifth AFC East title and would later be named MVP.
