Scott McTominay has said that he would consider playing for Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho. He said that if the Portuguese manager called him, he would think about a potential offer.
Los Blancos reappointed Mourinho as their manager this summer after a trophyless 2025-26 campaign. They have signed the likes of Yan Diomande, Ibrahima Konate, and Marc Cucurella. They have had a good start to the season as well, winning their opening three games.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay, who has been excellent for Napoli, was recently asked if he would join Real Madrid. He told Diario AS:
“If Mou called me for Real Madrid, honestly, I would think about it…”
McTominay has played under Mourinho during their time together at Manchester United. The United academy graduate made 31 appearances under the Portuguese manager. He made 255 senior appearances for Manchester United, scoring 29 goals and providing eight assists.
The Scotsman then joined Napoli in 2024 and made an immediate impact. He helped them win the Serie A title in his debut season, recording 12 goals and six assists in 34 league games. He was named the Serie A Player of the Season in the 2024-25 campaign.

In December last year, Benfica hosted Napoli at Estadio da Luz in the league stage of the UEFA Champions League. Jose Mourinho was the Portuguese side’s manager at the time, as they beat the Serie A giants 2-0. Richard Rios (45′) and Leandro Barreiro (49′) scored for the hosts.
After the game, the now Real Madrid manager asked for McTominay’s shirt and put it in a bag. He was asked about the bag in the press conference, as one curious reporter said (h/t The Sun):
“I noticed you have a bag. Is it a present to one of the journalists?”
Mourinho answered:
“It’s McTominay’s shirt. I put him in, I benched Paul Pogba for him. The least he could do was give me his shirt.”
McTominay became a regular for Manchester United under Mourinho over the likes of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata.
Meanwhile, the Scottish midfielder is currently out of action. Napoli have confirmed that he will undergo a minor heart procedure for “a mild benign arrhythmia”. He is expected to be out for around a month and return in October after the international break. He has featured in both of Napoli’s games so far this season.
