Imam Is Critically Wounded in Taking pictures Outdoors New Jersey Mosque

An imam was shot and critically wounded exterior a New Jersey mosque on Wednesday, the authorities mentioned.

The police responded to the scene of the taking pictures, the Masjid Muhammad mosque in Newark, shortly after 6 a.m., in accordance with Fritz Fragé, Newark’s public security director.

The sufferer, whom the police recognized as an imam on the mosque, was taken to College Hospital and is in vital situation. An investigation is underway, mentioned Mr. Fragé, who mentioned that the gunman was at massive and didn’t reveal a motive for the taking pictures.

On Wednesday morning, the mosque was cordoned off with crime scene tape as folks milled round on the lookout for data.

Dwayne Hill, 64, mentioned he had lived close to the mosque his complete life and that those that worship there had at all times been good neighbors.

“The mosque people are no problem. They keep to themselves and do what they believe in,” he mentioned. “They’ve been feeding and clothing the neighborhood for years.”
