Knife-wielding West Virginia man fatally shot by police responding to home name

Police responding to a home incident at a West Virginia residence early Wednesday fatally shot a person who was armed with a knife, authorities stated.

Officers from St. Albans and Nitro police departments responded to a name shortly after midnight in St. Albans, authorities instructed news outlets.

The person was within the residence and officers tried to get him to go away, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Joe Crawford instructed WCHS-TV. Officers deployed a stun gun, however when that didn’t work, an officer shot the person, Crawford stated.

The capturing occurred after the person threatened officers with the knife and started advancing on them, information shops reported, citing an announcement from the St. Albans Police Department.

A lady on the scene was handled for minor accidents, WCHS reported.

St. Albans Police Chief Marc Gilbert instructed the Charleston Gazette-Mail that the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Bureau of Investigation was gathering proof and dealing with the investigation.
