“Kyle Shanahan didn’t want to admit he was wrong?”: Ex-ESPN host Jemele Hill raises questions after police tried guilty on 21 y/o lady for accident

San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan suffered serious injuries after he was involved in a car accident two weeks ago. Shanahan also suffered a serious concussion that has limited him at the 49ers’ training camp.

While the California Highway Patrol database attributed the accident to the 21-year-old woman involved in the car crash, Shanahan admitted he was responsible for the crash during a conversation with reporters on Tuesday.

Former ESPN host Jemele Hill speculated that the 49ers coach didn’t want to admit his mistake in an X post:

“So Kyle Shanahan admitted to causing an accident that the police tried to blame on a 21-year-old? Was all this secrecy because he didn’t want to admit he was wrong?”

Shanahan, who was initially cleared of any wrongdoing, admitted that his career veered off as he was distracted while looking for his phone.

“I took my eyes off the road looking for my phone and my car veered into someone,” Shanahan said. “It’s one of those roads where there’s no forgiveness. It’s one of those roads where I’ll teach my kids, you don’t drive in the left lane for no reason. You’re only allowed a foot. When I hit her, I’ll never forget how violent the impact was.”

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan defends 21-year-old driver from “blame” for his accident

Kyle Shanahan didn’t receive a citation after the accident and the Palo Alto Police Department clarified that officers “elect to not issue a citation to either party involved in a collision.”

The 49ers coach said on Tuesday that he was “crushed” by people blaming the 21-year-old woman for the accident.

“It crushed me hearing the girl getting blamed for it and to hear people think that people are hiding something for me,” Shanahan said. “I think people are good people and [recognize] it’s a personal thing.”

Shanahan was returning home from a chiropractic appointment in Palo Alto and he backed his friend Chris Simms’ statement about nearly losing his eye in the accident.
