Pittsburgh Pirates’ second game of the series against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday sparked controversy after Sam Antonacci and Brandon Lowe’s heated altercation.
Antonacci, who dashed to make second base in the seventh inning, caught Lowe in his follow-through as the Pirates infielder turned in a double play. Lowe didn’t appreciate the collision and confronted the White Sox slugger. Lowe’s Pirates teammate Jared Triolo also confronted Antonacci, prompting both benches to clear.

Although both bullpens emptied after the benches-clearing altercation, there were ejections and warnings for both sides. The Pirates scored three runs in the seventh and held the White Sox to two runs over the last three innings to secure a 4-2 win, their second consecutive victory of the series against Chicago.
