MLB Unveils Stars and Stripes Caps and Jerseys for Teams to Wear in Celebration of USA250

Major League Baseball is getting set to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States with a special set of caps, jerseys, and socks which will be worn across the league during games played on July 4, 2026.

This year’s caps from New Era all feature a cream crown with the same USA 250 patch we saw during the Super Bowl and NBA Finals. The team’s logo on the front has a stars and stripes pattern and is trimmed in gold with a red, white, and blue stripe right at the visor. The visor is either navy blue or red, depending on the team’s preference; the button and eyelets match the visor colour, and the order in which the red/white/blue stripes appear at the visor is also affected by this — 16 teams chose blue, 14 went red.

You’ll notice in the graphic above that the Toronto Blue Jays will have a simple red and white version of their logo trimmed in gold while still wearing the USA 250 patch on the side and going with a red/white/blue stripe.

Inside the cap is a subtle cream and white USA flag on the crown, under the visor is “EST. 1776” in gold lettering.

While special caps (and socks) on Independence Day isn’t anything new, it’s been nearly a decade since clubs did anything special with their jerseys. This year, teams will wear the same name and number style, player names (where applicable) in red, arched above numbers filled with a USA flag stars and stripes design. Teams that have numbers on the front of the jersey will see those numbers also in this style. That same USA 250 patch from the cap will be worn as a sleeve patch on this jersey.

The red lettering applies to all teams regardless of the club’s usual colours — this includes non-red teams like the Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Everything else on the jersey remains business as usual; team logos, striping, and the MLB batter logo are all as each team normally wears throughout the season. The lone non-US-based team will wear their normal jersey for July 4th, paired with the cap we saw earlier in this post, with individual Blue Jays players given the option to wear the USA-flag-inspired accessories: socks, catcher’s gear, and so forth, just as the rest of the league’s players do.

The special Stance socks are white and cream with a subtle US flag pattern, a red-white-blue stripe and “EST. 1776 USA” in blue and gold lettering down by the ankle.
