Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is a fresh take on the time-honored series, emphasizing realistic horror and deep character development. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, helmed by Lee Cronin, pairs the chills of the supernatural with a touching family tale. The movie is supported by indie horror legends, such as Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions.
Instead of a follow-up, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy takes the liberty of telling the story in a completely new way. The film outwardly showcases this change not only through the plot but also in the choice of shooting locations, which depart from the universally recognized desert scenes connected with the franchise.
The movie was filmed primarily in Ireland and Spain, with key studio work at Ardmore Studios in County Wicklow, and principal photography running from March 24 to late June 2025.
Filming details of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy explored
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy was mostly shot in Ireland and Spain; the combination of the two places helped to shape the entire look of the movie. In fact, Ireland became Lee Cronin’s The Mummy’s main production hub, where Irish filmmakers shot quite a few scenes.
The Irish film unit was mainly centered around County Wicklow’s Ardmore Studios, which were used for their studio productions. By shooting at this place, filmmakers could create scenes in tightly controlled environments that had to be either visually or technically quite demanding.
Besides Ireland, Spain was a star in the movie due to its rich and varied landscape that nicely accommodated the needs of the story. Although the shooting locations in Spain have not been revealed, the decision to shoot there affords the film a wider geographical range.
The use of Ireland and Spain for the movie combined the two approaches: shooting on location and shooting in the studio.
The movie commenced principal photography on March 24, 2025, and wrapped up shooting in late June 2025. Director Lee Cronin mentioned that a big chunk of the whole process has been in Ireland, thus marking the country as the main base of the movie.
Along with location shoots, the movie also made use of studio facilities to produce certain visual effects. Ardmore Studios were central in this aspect of work, offering the right facilities for shooting in controlled environments.
