A Manhattan college board district has accredited a decision that would lead to transgender athletes now not being allowed to take part in women’ sports activities.
Neighborhood Schooling Council District 2, Manhattan’s largest college board district, accredited a decision 8 to three that prompts town’s Department of Education to overview the insurance policies that permit these transgender athletes to take part in women’ sports activities, the New York Publish reported.
Decision 248, which was met with sturdy criticism from neighborhood members, additionally requires parental involvement in future choices.

On the assembly, Jared Danker, a DOE worker who can also be a District 2 mother or father, stated the decision would “marginalize and discriminate against a group of students who need our affirmation and support,” the New York Publish reported.
NYC Council member Erik Bottcher equally condemned the decision, saying he and different lawmakers have been “outraged” the varsity board was “considering a resolution targeting transgender girls and sports.”

“It is utterly shocking that such a regressive and harmful resolution is being proposed in the school district in the middle of Manhattan,” he added.
