Public utilities regulator Republican race North Dakota’s lone U.S. Home seat

A longtime public utilities regulator introduced her candidacy on Thursday for North Dakota’s lone U.S. Home seat.

Republican Julie Fedorchak has sat on the state’s three-member Public Service Fee since 2013. She has gained three statewide elections, most not too long ago in 2022 with over 71% of the vote.

Fedorchak advised a crowded room of Republican state officials, lawmakers and social gathering trustworthy at GOP headquarters in Bismarck that she would give attention to power, agriculture and the nation’s monetary well-being. She stated she wish to serve on the Home Committee on Power and Commerce, utilizing her information from her work on the regulatory panel “to help rein in runaway agencies and support energy policies that recognize the fundamental role energy plays in public safety, our economy and national security.”

“The simple principles we follow in North Dakota that work well across our state government are the same fundamentals that will help us overcome the mountain of challenges our nation faces,” Fedorchak stated.

North Dakota has an open race for its Home seat as a result of Republican Rep. Kelly Armstrong, first elected in 2018, is working for governor.

Different Republican Home candidates embody former state consultant Rick Becker, a plastic surgeon, and former state senator Tom Campbell, a potato farmer.

Democrat Trygve Hammer, a navy veteran, is also working. A Democrat hasn’t won a statewide election in North Dakota since 2012.

North Dakota’s dominant Republican Occasion will endorse candidates for statewide places of work and congressional seats at its conference in April in Fargo. Voters within the June main election will nominate candidates for November.

Fedorchak advised reporters she intends to hunt the GOP endorsement on the conference however will run within the main.
