Reddit held its first Health Summit in New York on Sept. 4, where it presented data on how people are using its platform for health-related research, and also explored how health-related marketers can tap into relevant Reddit discussion.

This week, Reddit shared an overview of some of the key insights from the event, with a range of usage and trend notes that underline the rising value of the platform as a health resource.

Notably, the company said that healthcare conversations on Reddit generated more than 36 billion views over the past year, and added that 46% of doctors in the U.S. are now active in the app.

A key use case for the app is diagnosis. According to Reddit, in 2025, there were 473 million Reddit posts that connected symptoms to a possible condition.

The value of Reddit discussions related to health is that these posts are shared by people who’ve been officially diagnosed with these health conditions. That allows them the opportunity to offer real, first-hand experience of diagnoses and care plans.

As explained by Reddit: “Search and AI may help people find answers quickly, but online communities help them understand what those answers mean in real life. People turn to Reddit for lived experiences, nuanced perspectives, and candid conversations that can add context to clinical information.”

Reddit also shared a range of other data points from its Health Summit:

  • Among women’s reproductive health audiences, seven in 10 reported feeling more prepared for healthcare conversations after using Reddit.
  • In the U.S., 61% of health information seekers use Reddit as a “final check” before taking action
  • Ninety percent of views within gender-oriented communities came from woman-oriented spaces.

Reddit also shared insights into the rising discussion around GLP-1 usage. According to the company, the top interest groups discussing GLP-1s were Healthy Living, Family & Relationships, Entertainment, Career Advice, Travel and Business & Finance.

Reddit said that highlights how health discussion branches into different areas. Healthcare brands need to be aware of this when building outreach plans for the app.

These are some interesting notes, which underline the value of Reddit as a collection of lived experience insights. The information also showcases the value of Reddit when it comes to providing crowd-sourced advice on health-related concerns.
