Sean Combs Dropped by Lawyers in Civil Suit for Alleged ‘Unpaid Legal Fees’ – ‘Diddy’ Says They Were Overcharging Him

Diddy’s lawyers want out.

Disgraced rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is serving his 50-month prison sentence over two counts of ‘transportation to engage in prostitution’, but he is also involved in several other lawsuits.

In one of them, Diddy has a $100 million defamation lawsuit against music manager Courtney Burgess and NewsNation over sex tape allegations.

Page Six reported:

“According to the lawsuit, which was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York […] Burgess allegedly made up claims about Combs that [his lawyer] Mitchell co-signed and NewsNation broadcast.

In the fall of 2024, after he testified before a grand jury, Burgess appeared on NewsNation to double down on his claim that he is in possession of nearly a dozen flash drives containing the incarcerated rapper’s alleged sex tapes.

The videos allegedly feature male and female celebrities as well as a few minors, all of whom appear to be under the influence.”

As we can see, this is a pivotal lawsuit for Diddy to get restitution from a major detractor.

But things apparently are not going so well.

Three attorneys from a law firm representing him in the Burgess suit have filed a motion to withdraw over alleged unpaid legal fees.

The incarcerated rapper has pushed back, saying the lawyers were overcharging him.

TMZ reported:

“The attorneys, Michael Tremonte, Erica Wolff and Katie Renzler from Sher Tremonte LLP, filed a motion to withdraw as counsel for Diddy in the music mogul’s case against Nexstar Media, Ariel Mitchell, and Courtney Burgess, which is pending in federal court in New York.”

They argue that Diddy owes a ‘substantial balance of attorney’s fees’.

“They also claim Diddy has been ‘unreasonably difficult’ and hasn’t been cooperative, resulting in a breakdown of communication between the attorneys and their client.

The motion also states that Diddy ‘deliberately disregards an agreement or obligation to the lawyer as to expenses or fees’ and claims he’s in ‘substantial arrears’, with his last payment coming in more than 6 months ago.”

Page Six reported:

“In a statement Combs provided to Page Six through a rep, the Sean John fashion designer said: ‘I made the decision to switch lawyers because I won’t let anyone take advantage of me by overcharging me and running up bills that were never approved. This is strictly a business matter, and any talk about unpaid fees is just part of our dispute over those unapproved charges’, Combs added.”
